ForeFront Power, a developer of solar energy and battery storage assets in the US and Mexico, has developed a 27 MW (DC) solar and battery storage portfolio for Fresno’s Department of Public Utilities (DPU) across three major sites. The 19.6 MW system at the Fresno-Clovis Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility marked the largest US commercial solar and battery project. Developed at no upfront cost under a 20-year PPA, the systems used single-axis trackers and smart batteries to cut grid reliance. The project is set to generate 47 million kWh annually, save $122 million by 2045, and avoid 26,000 tons of CO₂ emissions yearly. Construction involved IBEW Local 100 and created 120 local jobs. Additional city-owned sites were also solarized.
