France-based ENGIE has partnered with SOLARCYCLE, a solar panel recycling company, to launch a precycling pilot program. The initiative covers four upcoming utility-scale solar projects totaling 375 MW across the U.S. Midwest. The initiative integrates solar panel and component recycling into early-stage project planning and power purchase agreements (PPAs), aiming to recycle 1 million panels at end-of-life. SOLARCYCLEestimates the program will divert 48 million pounds of material from landfills and prevent 33,000 tons of carbon emissions. The partnership also includes recycling construction waste and system components, with recovered materials re-entering the domestic clean energy supply chain. This move aligns with Engie’s growing portfolio, which includes over 12GW of clean energy capacity in North America.
