EDPR NA Distributed Generation, a distributed energy arm of EDP Renewables, has signed a 20-year PPA with California Water Service in Bakersfield. The agreement covered a solar project at the Northeast Bakersfield treatment plant. The ground-mounted system is 1.75 MW (AC) and 2.35 MW (DC) in size. It could save $1.7 million on energy over 20 years.The project also helped diversify the local energy mix in California. EDPR NA Distributed Generation is the distributed energy unit of EDP Renewables. Both companies have supported California’s growing power needs with local clean energy. Their combined operating capacity in the state has exceeded 1,200 MW. The partnership reflects ongoing efforts to expand distributed solar in California. The installation also demonstrated potential for long-term cost savings for municipal utilities.
