Duke Energy Florida, a US-based electric utility headquartered in St. Petersburg, has completed two 74.9 MW solar sites in Hernando & Sumter counties,Florida. Each facility was added to the state’s electric grid. The company has reported that both sites were expected to generate an estimated $500 million in lifetime customer savings through reduced fuel requirements. As per Duke Energy Florida, these projects formed part of an agreement with the Florida Public Service Commission(PSC) to build 12 sites between 2025 and 2027. The full program was planned to deliver 900 MW and around $3 billion in projected savings. Duke Energy Florida has stated that its operating solar fleet exceeded 1,700 MW across more than 30 sites.
