Governor of Washington State, United States Bob Ferguson has approved the 160 MW Carriger Solar project in Klickitat County. The project was being developed by Cypress Creek Renewables. This was the first utility-scale energy project submitted for his review since he took office. The approval followed his Aug. 22 directive for the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) to conduct further engagement with the Yakama Nation. His letter stated that the EFSEC met its legal obligation and needed to improve future Tribal engagement. The project is added with 160 MW of solar capacity and 63 MW of battery storage. Cypress Creek Renewables said that the project could power up to 32,500 homes. The facility is expected to generate local and state tax revenue and also create construction jobs. The construction on the project had to start by July 4, 2026, to qualify for federal clean-energy tax credits.
