US based Connecticut Green Bank has announced that eight affordable multifamily housing properties advanced under the Solar MAP+ program. The projects were planned to deliver about 2.4 MW of solar capacity serving 473 residential units. Property owners were expected to receive roughly $569,000 in lifetime energy cost savings, while tenants were projected to save over $350 annually on average. Connecticut-based installers Earthlight Technologies and PurePoint Energy were selected to deploy the systems. The participating sites were located across Cheshire, Hamden, Storrs, Tolland and West Hartford. Statements from the Hamden Housing Authority and Access Community Action Agency indicated that it has reduced electricity costs were expected to support affordability for residents on fixed incomes. Solar MAP+ was structured to provide technical assistance, project design support and access to financing and incentives for eligible multifamily properties.
