US-based Comstock Metals, a subsidiary of Comstock Inc., became the first solar panel recycling company in North America to receive R2v3/RIOS certification, including Appendix G, for a zero-waste process. The company demonstrated 100% commodity-ready material recovery through proprietary thermal methods. SERI audited and certified its entire recycling operation and downstream vendors. The facility, operating since January 2024, met safety and environmental standards across all stages—procurement, transportation, handling, processing, and reuse. The certification confirmed consistent performance and responsible recycling practices. Comstock Metals aimed to expand its services with a focus on total material recovery and landfill avoidance.
