US based CleanChoice Energy has announced the acquisition of two solar projects in Halifax and Bertie counties, North Carolina. The projects are the Sweetleaf Project in Halifax County and the Sumac Project in Bertie County with a combined capacity of 222.2 MW (DC). The Sumac Project will account for 103.92 MW (DC), while the Sweetleaf Project will contribute 118.3 MW (DC). Following the acquisition, CleanChoice’s total generation capacity will increase to 331.99 MW (DC). This expansion will effectively triple the company’s generation portfolio. The construction is expected to begin in early 2027 with both projects scheduled to interconnect to the PJM grid in 2028. Together, they are expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 130,000 homes annually.

Geenex sold the 222.2 MWdc Sumac and Sweetleaf solar projects in North Carolina to CleanChoice Energy, lifting its portfolio to 331.99 MWdc with PJM interconnection set for 2028.
