CleanCapital, an independent power producer, has announced the completion of a $185 million private placement debt issuance with US investors. The facility initially covered 156 distributed solar and energy storage projects totaling over 180 MW and was structured to allow additional tranches over time. The financing expanded CleanCapital’s access to long-term debt markets for distributed generation projects. The company said the transaction supported financing flexibility for its growing US portfolio amid rising electricity demand and grid reliability needs. CleanCapital has reported that it had acquired, built and managed clean energy assets representing more than $1.5 billion in total enterprise value over the past decade. Milbank LLP served as legal counsel to CleanCapital on the transaction.
