In Argentina, construction is progressing on a 200 MW solar power plant in the Gara Djebilet area of Tindouf Province. The project is valued at over DZD 19 billion (~ $146.52 million) and is being built by China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) on a 400-acre site. Work began in March 2025 with completion expected within 24 months. Once operational, the facility will primarily supply electricity to the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine and its processing units. It will also connect to Tindouf through the high-voltage grid to support provincial power balance. The project includes the country’s first battery energy storage system (BESS) and is complemented by an additional 80 MW solar plant planned in Abadla, Béchar Province.
