Canadian Solar, a global solar technology firm, has announced a plan to resume direct oversight of its US operations and advance its North American manufacturing strategy. The company said it would form new joint ventures with American shareholders and CSI Solar. Canadian Solar was set to hold a 75.1 % stake in CS PowerTech, which would manage US manufacturing and sales of modules, cells, and storage systems. The company planned to acquire 75.1 % of certain overseas facilities from CSI Solar for about $50 million, subject to a value adjustment at closing. Canadian Solar stated that additional joint ventures would be launched to support its reshoring strategy. The initiative was described as requiring board and minority shareholder approval and remained subject to regulatory guidance.
