California Energy Commission has reported that the state met 100% of electricity demand with clean energy for seven hours daily on over 90% of days in 2025. This totaled nearly 52 full clean energy days so far this year. In 2023, 67% of California’s retail electricity came from zero-carbon sources, rising from 61% in 2022 and 41% in 2013 as per commission. In 2024, the stateadded with 7,000 MW of clean energy capacity, marking its highest single-year increase. Since 2019, 25,000 MW of mostly solar and battery storage was added to the grid. Solar leads with over 21,000 MW installed and 19,000 MW behind-the-meter. Battery storage has reached 15,000 MW. Emissions fell 20% in 2000 while the economy continued to grow.

California Energy Commission said that clean energy has met full power needs for seven hours daily on most 2025 days, with 7 GW added in 2024 and 67% zero-carbon in 2023.
