Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd., based in California, has announced that it had begun interior construction of its 3.0 GW PV cell manufacturing facility in North Carolina. The milestone followed the completion of exterior walls and roofing. The construction began in January 2025, and the facility is part of Phase II of its North American strategy, was designed to produce high-efficiency PV cells with an annual capacity of 3.0 GW. It will work alongside the nearby 3.0 GW PV module factory, which began production in April 2025. The Greenville cell facility is expected to start mass production in late 2026, create over 900 local jobs, and help build a fully integrated solar manufacturing hub in the US.
