US-based solar module manufacturer, Bila Solar has begun producing US-made solar modules at its newly retrofitted 157,000-square-foot facility in Indianapolis, previously an Eli Lilly site. This marks the company’s entry into domestic manufacturing using American-made cells and qualifies its products for the 10% domestic content bonus under the ITC. The factory is Central Indiana’s first solar panel plant and aims to create over 75 jobs. Production started last week, focusing on 550 W dual-glass and lightweight modules for ground-mount and carport systems. Phase 1 targets 300 MW annual capacity, with plans to scale to 1 GW. Company leaders shared insights on rapid setup and workforce development. The launch comes as the US added 8.6 GW of new solar module capacity in Q1 2025, reflecting surging demand and federal policy impact.
