Austin Lighthouse for the Blind in Austin, has installed a 1 MW solar energy system. The project was finished in five months and started operating on August 27, 2025. It generates about 2,000,000 kWh of power each year. This meets 65% of the nonprofit’s yearly electricity need of 3.3 million kWh. The system has reduced dependence on the grid and lowered emissions. It also helps in improve community health by cutting air pollution. The facility is a major step in reducing energy costs and the carbon footprint of the organization. Austin Lighthouse has worked with Cove Solar, which handled the installation and technical support. The system is designed to be reliable and efficient, meeting both operational and environmental needs.
