Amazon has achieved its goal of matching all its global operations’ electricity consumption with 100% renewable energy in 2023, ahead of the 2030 target. This milestone was reached through investments in over 500 solar and wind projects globally, making Amazon the largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy for four consecutive years according to Bloomberg NEF. The projects generate enough power for 7.6 million US homes and will help avoid 27.8 million tons of carbon emissions annually. Amazon continues to explore new carbon-free energy sources and remains committed to its net-zero carbon goal by 2040.
