AirTrunk and ib vogt have inked Asia Pacific & Japan’s (APJ) inaugural data centre renewable energy Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme. The initiative, led by Malaysia’s Energy Commission, allows businesses to engage in renewable energy projects, with an 800 MW solar energy quota. AirTrunk, as the offtaker, commits to procuring energy from ib vogt’s 29.99 MW solar farm, starting construction in mid-2024. This aligns with AirTrunk’s eco-initiatives, echoing previous agreements in Hong Kong and Australia. The move underpins AirTrunk’s digitalization efforts in Malaysia, specifically its 150 MW AirTrunk JHB1 data centre, contributing to the broader APJ Net Zero goals.
