AES Andes secures environmental approval for Cristales PV project

AES Andes has received environmental approval for the Cristales photovoltaic project, which will provide up to 340 MW of solar energy and up to 542 MW for 5 hours from its battery storage system. The project is located in the commune of Antofagasta, Chile, approximately 220 km east of the regional capital. With an investment of up to $710 million, this project also includes the construction of an electrical substation (Cristales S/E) and a 220 kV high-voltage transmission line to evacuate the generated energy.
