Spain-based ACCIONA Energía announced the start of commercial operations for its Union Solar Farm in Marysville, Ohio, with a capacity of 325 MW. The project spans 22 square miles and consists of 760,000 solar panels, generating enough energy to meet the needs of approximately 62,000 households. Union Solar operates under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon.The project created over 370 jobs during peak construction, with more than 80% of the workforce sourced locally from Ohio. It will also sustain up to 20 permanent operational jobs. Additionally, part of the farm's annual revenues will support local community initiatives through ACCIONA’s Social Impact Management program, focusing on enhancing residents' living conditions.
