India-headquartered Union Power and Housing Ministry announced the development of a 13 GW solar power plant in Ladakh to address local energy needs and support India’s national grid. The project aligns with Ladakh’s renewable energy potential, complementing INR 1,080 crore (~$1.27 billion) infrastructure projects aimed at improving power distribution in remote areas like Nubra and Zanskar valleys. Efforts are underway to meet harsh winter power demands using India’s excess power quota, ensuring uninterrupted supply in the region.
