China-based Arctech has deployed its advanced SkyWings solar tracking system at the Mengxi Blue Ocean Photovoltaic Power Station, the world’s largest solar project on a coal mining subsidence area. According to Arctech, the plant will generate 5.7 billion kilowatt-hours annually, powering two million households and reducing CO2 emissions by 4.7 million tons annually. SkyWings’ AI-powered, multi-point drive system optimizes solar tracker tilt for 8% more energy, handling 18 m/s winds and adapting to varied terrains. The system adapts to terrains with east-west and north-south tolerances of 20% and 15%. Its eco-friendly design, using recyclable steel piles, reduces waste by 60% and supports agrivoltaics. Arctech claims that 90% of the steel can be recycled after its 25-year lifecycle.
