Canadian Premium Sand Inc. (CPS), a Canada-based firm, has announced a strategic pivot to manufacturing solar glass, driven by an extensive market analysis and technical report. This shift follows North American demand trends indicating increased solar energy adoption and a growing need for solar glass. According to CPS, its Wanipigow sand deposit in Manitoba offers high-purity silica, optimal for solar glass production. The company plans to build an integrated facility near this site to streamline production and reduce transportation costs, with a projected output of 550 tons of solar glass daily. CPS claims the facility will use advanced coating and tempering technologies to ensure durability and efficiency in PV modules. The project’s CAPEX is projected at CAD $400 million (~$300 million USD), and construction is anticipated soon.
