US-based Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., has secured Contracts for Difference (CfD) for three PV projects in England, awarded by the Low Carbon Contracts Company on behalf of the UK government. These projects, totaling 120 MW, aim to supply clean, reliable energy to over 34,000 homes, according to Recurrent Energy. The company claims the initiative will cut CO2 emissions by approximately 31,000 tons annually. CfD contracts will provide Recurrent Energy with 15 years of inflation-indexed revenue. Additionally, Recurrent Energy highlights local economic benefits, including job creation and supply chain support. This CfD award is part of the UK’s Sixth Allocation Round, which, as of September 3, 2024, introduced 9.6 GW of renewable capacity, backed by an expanded £1.5 billion ($1.86 billion) auction budget.
