5B, an Australian solar pioneer, has secured a 69 MW solar contract with AES Corporation in Puerto Rico. The project includes 1,392 5B Maverick arrays, designed to endure hurricane-force winds up to 166 mph (ASCE 7-16). Shipments will begin in late 2024. The solar installation will be complemented by a 100 MW, 4-hour duration battery energy storage system. According to 5B, Maverick arrays are pre-assembled, pre-wired, and can be rapidly deployed with minimal labor.
